University of Belgrade Hosts Advanced Coaching Workshop Focused on 1-on-1 Basketball Development

On 18 August 2025, the University of Belgrade successfully delivered its second Development Iteration under the Basketball-KTN Erasmus+ project, with a targeted workshop for basketball coaches centered on the effective teaching of 1-on-1 play.


Training Theme: “Mastering the 1-on-1 Game”


Held in Zlatibor, Serbia, this iteration included:

  • In-person workshop for theoretical and practical analysis of 1-on-1 fundamentals
  • Roundtable discussion, promoting reflection and exchange of coaching experiences
  • Asynchronous video lessons, providing additional examples and scenario-based learning


A total of 8 coaches participated, exploring what makes a player successful in 1-on-1 basketball, how to structure effective drills, and how this individual skill contributes to team performance—especially when training young athletes.


Tools & Teaching Methodology


The session utilized:

  • Visual presentations, including tactical diagrams and coach board demonstrations
  • Video clips of both youth and professional athletes to support real-life analysis and discussion


The workshop was led by Professor Mandić, who shared insights into training methodologies followed by an interactive Q&A segment with attendees.


Objective and Impact


This training contributed directly to Output 2 – Training Activities, aiming to:

  • Promote structured and engaging 1-on-1 coaching exercises
  • Enhance young players’ focus, decision-making, and individual performance within game-like scenarios
  • Provide coaches with innovative and practical tools to integrate individual skill development within team training systems
